ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Expand your professional skill set and gain a competitive advantage in finding an outstanding full-time job by participating in the new Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy. This select opportunity is a two-course sequence that helps students develop advanced leadership, project management, and professional communication skills and then apply them to a semester-long strategic management consulting project. The first course, Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy I (ELA I) will help students hone their leadership and project management skills. Through weekly discussions, guest speakers, and applied activities, ELA I will prepare you to actively manage and lead all phases of a business project. Topics covered include client management, advanced project management skills, professional communications, how to have tough conversations at work, and how to structure and lead a meeting for optimal results.
After completing ELA I, students will be prepared for the second course in the sequence, Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy II (ELA II). Students enrolled in ELA II will work in small groups under the direction of experienced entrepreneurs and C-level executives to provide strategic management consulting services to Iowa-based organizations.. Students will independently communicate with their client, learn to employ the latest techniques for assessing competitive markets and identifying growth opportunities, and ultimately develop recommendations and prepare a final report for their client. It will be a great opportunity to enhance a student’s resume and expand their professional network.
APPLICATION CRITERIA
For Tippie Management & Entrepreneurship majors:
Completed Introduction to Management and declared Management & Entrepreneurship major; minimum third-year standing required to apply.
For CLAS Enterprise Leadership majors and all students earning one of the Entrepreneurship Certificates:
Completed Entrepreneurship and Innovation or Entrepreneurial Strategy and declared Enterprise Leadership major or declared one of the Entrepreneurship Certificates; minimum third-year standing required to apply.
