ABRAHAM KALONGA
Abraham Kalonga is a Tanzanian agribusiness and agriculture biotechnology enthusiast with 7 years of experience. He is founder and C.E.O of Mamaland Mushroom Farms, an agribusiness venture dealing with the production of mushrooms, mushroom spawns and mushroom business consultation services for food and nutrition security (malnutrition and micronutrients deficiencies), youth employment, climate change mitigation and poverty alleviation in underdeveloped societies both in urban and rural areas of Tanzania. He is a pioneer for organic, urban, climate smart agriculture and vertical farming. He uses his own experience and knowledge of microbiology of mushrooms to provide an alternative source of protein for food and nutrition security through zero-waste biorecycling of biomass waste into nutritious mushrooms. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he plans to improve his effectiveness and skills in team building, business development and management, networking, professional coaching and scaling his business.
