Carmen Maria Pereira

Pereira is an enthusiastic international development professional, an engaged project manager, and a behavior change communication specialist. She has more than seven years of professional experience in a wide range of institutions and organizations, where her responsibilities have included project management, project implementation, innovation, communication for development, and resource mobilization for local development projects. Her field-based experience relates mainly to local development, youth engagement, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups, and Pereira works in tandem with key stakeholders, such as community leaders, central and local governments, civil society organizations, and local non-governmental organizations. Pereira holds a master’s degree in international area studies, a master of business administration in project management, and a degree in communication, and is currently employed as national specialist for innovation at the United Nations Population Fund, Mozambique. In addition, she is an aspiring entrepreneur and dedicated national and international volunteer and has served for more than 10 years in several initiatives to promote human rights and social protection. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Pereira aims to use the business knowledge and skills she acquired to grow her enterprise and help her business take off.
