CHARLES KAPONDO
Charles Kapondo is an agribusiness entrepreneur with over eight years of experience working in the business sector. Charles is a Founder and Managing Director at Guten Pig Farms, a business focusing on importing well-performing pig breeds, multiplying, and supplying them to other farmers. They also import agricultural equipment and sell them directly to local farmers at affordable prices to improve their productivity. The aim is to encourage the transformation from subsistence farming to commercial farming. Charles worked for an equity investment company from Norway, where he had an opportunity to visit and study many business companies in a large part of Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar. He was a World Bank Tanzania winner for suggesting ways to create jobs for youth and was selected in the top 10 youth business idea competition by one of the giant media houses in Tanzania. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Charles plans to use acquired business and entrepreneurial skills to grow his current business and set up animal feed businesses.
