Five University of Iowa students shared $5,000 in prize money at the undergraduate Startup Incubator End of Semester Pitch Competition on Dec. 9 in the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory in Iowa City, Iowa.
The first place ($1,5000) and audience choice ($500) awards went to Jacob Vander Sanden (Cedar Sales). Jon Barns (ARBLU) and John Hatfield (ChordaWorm Lures) shared second place and both received $1,000. The two third-place winners — Madeleine Humpal-Pash (Chemo Care) and Jordan Walters (Walters and Co.) — both received $500.
Startup Incubator connects potential entrepreneurs from across campus with the experts and resources they need to launch an idea and grow it into a sustainable venture. The program is part of the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, the hub for entrepreneurship education and outreach at the University of Iowa.
