The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) is the hub for entrepreneurship education and outreach at the University of Iowa.
Through a generous gift from John and Mary Pappajohn, the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at University of Iowa was established in 1996. As a part of the Tippie College of Business, Iowa JPEC has grown its influence in the entrepreneurial community and inspired thousands of entrepreneurs to start a business in Iowa. Today, we’re committed to helping every entrepreneur, no matter their level of expertise, to start something great.

JOHN PAPPAJOHN
"I want to make Iowa the most entrepreneurial state in America." Those were the words spoken by John Pappajohn over twenty years ago when he, together with his wife, Mary, began the journey of doing just that.
In 1996, the Pappajohns gifted $1.5 million to expand the existing Institute for Entrepreneurial Management at the University of Iowa. Housed in the Tippie College of Business, the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) was established. The Pappajohn’s generosity did not stop there. In the same year, their financial support helped establish four additional entrepreneurial centers at other universities across the state.
