Biography

Dr. Welbourne Eleázar received a PhD in international management from the University of Texas at Dallas with a focus on entrepreneurship and strategy. Before earning a PhD, she received a BA and JD from the University of Michigan. Welbourne Eleázar practiced law at large and mid-sized law firms in New York City and Detroit for 10 years, representing international firms in high-stakes litigation. She incorporates her legal experience in her teaching and research. Welbourne Eleázar's research focuses on entrepreneurial and firm decision-making and how they respond to, learn from, and potentially avoid, crisis and adversity. Her research often involves ethical, social, and impression management issues, including work on ethics in cognition and decision-making; entrepreneurial pitches, investing, and IPOs; impact investing and ESG; product recalls, lawsuits, and lobbying. Welbourne Eleázar has won teaching and research awards and published in the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Business Ethics, and legal journals.
